Open Wide Your Mouths!
1 missed call from Andrew’s land lady. After four years of happy living, one of renter's decided to move out. Madame P. wanted to know if we “err, I mean it’s none of my business but you know, err, one day would like to move in together?”. And so after explaining the reason for us living separately yet again, we said we’d take a peek. Skeptical about the size but realizing it was in our building and it’s like a gold rush for apartments around here are, we met to check it out. It ended up being a little pearl on the third floor. Three balconies, a real bedroom, a real bathroom and a wonderfully light sitting room / kitchen. We fell in love with it and signed for it last week. Andrew will leave his place in August and yet again, without even looking, the Father takes care of our needs. For the Father knows what you need before you ask him! (Matt 6:8)

Marriage BannsWith the apartment and the meeting at the “mairie” (town hall) and the jerk of a gynecologist last week, it’s finally starting to settle in – we’re getting married! We must have “passed” our oral exam. You have to go through a legal ceremony at the town hall before any religious event is authorized. Basically, religion counts for nothing! So we read through legal documents, got a take home to practice when to say “oui” and agreed that yes we would feed each other and our kids. That evening after work, I ran home from the parking garage and rang on Andrew’s door: “Chéri, chéri, we have to get a picture! We have to get a picture! The wedding bans paper is posted outside the mairie!” We ran together with a camera to get a shot of the official document. In France, the paper has to be posted for 10 days to make a wedding official. This allows people to oppose during that time. (So five more days to oppose guys and then forever hold your peace.)

Anyway, all that to say - little by little things are coming into place for our big day… and after! Preparing the wedding and working has not been easy, let alone trying to meet expectations and getting to know our own paradigms of what a wedding should or not look like. But in the storm, we often stop and then realize just how the Father is leading these two children each step of the way, feeding us with what we need to keep on keeping on. Reminds me of that verse in Psalm 81: “Open wide your mouths and I will fill it”. So we're opening wide...and He is filling it!
